Hey all!

Huge apologies on this thing taking longer to get off the ground. However I'm pleased to announce I've had a beautiful baby boy! Needless to say he has taken up the majority of our time and put this on-going project on hold once more.

With that said the proof copy of the book is on it's way and the ETA to my doorstep is Sept. 5th. There were some issues with images being too small in DPI but hopefully it's not a big problem. I shall see when the proof arrives and I'll be in touch with the artist(s) who will need to send me a larger file.

Also I am pleased to announce that Joanne Dertili is the featured artist on the cover page of the book! Congrats to Joanne on a fantastic piece of art that demonstrates BHRR so well. You can see Joanne's art gallery here -

Thank you again everyone for your patience with this project.

I'll make another post once it's available for purchase of course. Until then - Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!

Compiling Pages

Working on putting the book all together finally! I will no longer be accepting more entries from this point onwards.

Hopefully sending it to the print shop next weekend (Oct 29-30), and getting a proof sent back to see how it looks before opening it for public purchase! EXCITING!

Deadline Over!

The Deadline has come and gone for entries to the BHRR Charity Art Book.

For the next month or so I shall be compiling the pages and seeking out online printing companies. If anyone knows of any decently priced online printing companies please let me know, right now I'm looking at or

That being said, there is still a window of time to submit artwork if you wish to do so. At the moment I have 28 generous people with at least one piece of artwork each - the more the better!

I'll be keeping this blog updated as I complete steps of finishing off the book and where it will be available for purchase (as well as when I will no longer be accepting more artwork).
Thanks everyone!

Hello and welcome to the Birch Haven Rescue and Rehabilitation Charity Art Book Blog!

I would like to thank each and every one of you for offering to participate in this project. I am overwhelmed by the number of you who have expressed interest in this, and totally taken back by the gorgeous artwork that has been submitted so far. Your participation in this project goes to show how generous and giving you all are, and I can't thank you enough for taking the time to put a bit of your heart and soul out for these dogs & horses in need.

I am gathering original artwork for a collaboration charity art book for the non-profit organization of Birch Haven Rescue & Rehabilitation (BHRR). This wonderful organization supports the rescue and rehabilitation of giant breed canines and equines. To find out more about this fantastic family and what they do, feel free to visit their website at .

Participation in this project would entail the donation of any kind of new and original self-made artwork (sketches, inked work, coloured digital or traditionally, paintings, sculpture, etc. - sorry no photographs!) of or including giant breed canines (Great Dane, Deerhound, Great Pyrenees, Wolfhound, Mastiff, Newfoundland, & St. Bernard) or equines (horses - all breeds). I will be personally screening all submitted artwork to keep it family friendly and the quality at a certain standard. As proud as you may be please refrain from posting your entry on the internet - keep it a surprise for people buying the book (at least until a month of two after it's been released)!

Gwen of Birch Haven has mentioned that if anyone feels so inclined, she would be absolutely ecstatic if anyone were to draw any of the dogs past or present of BHRR as seen on their website. I will be updating a post with images of special dogs from the BHRR program.

You will have full copyright of any artwork you contribute, and any and all profits from sales of these books will go directly to the dogs and horses of BHRR. Your name and contact info (if desired) will be credited alongside your artwork. You can also donate any original artwork to BHRR to sell at auctions to raise even more funds if you'd like! There's no limit on the number of images you'd like to submit - the more the merrier! If submitting digital art/scans, please keep the resolution NO LESS than 300 dpi please, any higher is even better!

All artwork is to be submitted by the 1st of September, 2011.

Thank you so much for your time and consideration, and feel free to contact me at any time if you have any questions whatsoever.
